This stuff is CRAZY!!! I tried it this weekend and its works like a charm, I have a 2001 White Corolla that has lost its luster and with this stuff it looks like I have a brand new car.
Good product, but not for heavy swirls. August 17, 2010

I used Meguiar's Ultra Cut and Ultra Finishing products to remove swirl marks from my black car. Those products worked very well. A month later, I tried Meguiar's Ultimate Compound to remove any remaining swirls, but, in my opinion, the two "Ultra" compounds work faster/better and produce more substantial results. I do not think I'd be able to remove as many swirls with just the Ultimate Compound as I did with the Ultra Cutting and Ultra Finishing. However, after I used the Ultimate Compound the paint is very smooth and mirror like.
I applied the Ultimate Compound with Meguair's DA polisher and Meguiar's 9006 pad, followed by Meguiar's Mirror Glaze and Meguiar's NXT wax, the car looks very well and shiny.
I think this product would be good for removing light, possibly moderate swirls, but for heavy swirls, I'd recommend Ultra Cutting and Ultra Finishing with a DA polisher.

Since Meguiar's is known for high quality stuff, this is no exception. This is pretty amazing stuff. I have 3m marine grade rubbing compound and turtle wax polishing compound. I used the rubbing compound is great for getting really deep oxidation spots off and polishing compound was used for shining it up. It did a decent job but this stuff would probably eliminate all those runs in just a few simple applications. I used this stuff first on my headlights because they were a little oxidized and had little speckles of dirt or something on them. I just rubbed like a dime sized on a microfiber cloth onto the headlight and wow. After putting it on like wax, and kept going over and over it until it disappeared, this stuff is pretty amazing. I used my polishing compound on them before, and it cleaned it up a little, but nothing how clear and spotless that this Ultimate compound works. I then buffed it with the other side of the microfiber cloth and my headlights now look pretty brand new. They are crystal clear as they could possibly get. I used them on my dad's headlights and he said the same thing. They just really make the glass on the headlights perfect so you can see right through them. You know how when you clean your windows sometimes and people can't tell if they are up or down, this is what it looks like on the headlights. You can hardly tell there is a piece of plastic protecting them. Same thing with your tail lights as well. But anyways, since all it needed was one run to get everything off, I can't imagine what this stuff will do for the paint. I think my review is long enough to bore you, and I think you get the point that this is the stuff to get. Don't waste your money on other polishing compounds, trust me. You might want to get a good rubbing compound though. Even though this stuff is like rubbing compound and polishing compound, it goes on pretty thin and feels almost like polishing compound. Also, this stuff is very easy to work with, unlike my polishing and rubbing compounds. Those things took forever to rub in and had barely any shine. This stuff goes away and shines like crazy. Get this stuff, you won't be disappointed.
Excellent product for paint restore July 30, 2010

I just order a month ago this product with the SwirlX and ScratchX 2.0. My intention was to restore a dark gray paint cover on a 2006 sedan. It was all covered by hard acid rain spots, swirl marks and the paint was very opaque. So I started the labor: First the ultimate compound, next the SwirlX and if required the ScratchX. I complete the work with the NXT wax and the results? Awesome!!! the care paints looks as new. The Ultimate Compound also removes all bad experience from other rubbing compounds that I used before and other paint defects like acid rain spots. This is one of the must-have products from Meguiar's.

This stuff is amazing. Meguiar's makes some great products, but this is probably their best. I'd venture to say that this is the best compound for the money out there. Unless you have severely damaged paint, this stuff will bring it back to life with ease. I've used this on two cars , one 16 years old, and one 21 years old - and it brought a faded slightly oxidized original paint job back to very respectable condition. Just do a before and after with this stuff on half of the roof of your car, and you will be blown away. A great first step in restoring worn paint - don't forget to follow it up with a good polish, #9 works well, then seal it in with a wax and you'll be set for a while.
